Suggest Treatment For Nodules On The Thyroid

I have a nodule on my thyroid that takes up the right side. I have several smaller ones as well. The endocrinologist recommends removing the thyroid. The ENT says not to remove. Who s opinion should I take? My grandmother, aunt, and cousin had glitters. Should this be considered?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
I can not say whether you should take the ENT or endocrinologist's opinion. However, depending on the nature of the nodule, treatment decisions may be taken like medical management, nodule removal or thyroidectomy. Some indications for thyroidectomy may include:
- Thyroid cancer
-Symptomatic thyroid masses or goiters
The nature of the nodules may be determined by biopsy-proven by fine-needle aspiration of a nodule. If this has not yet been done, you may see your Endocrinologist for his opinion on this diagnostic technique.
Just see the Doctors individually and request for an explanation to their individual treatment options and you will know what will be good for you.
Hope this will
Wish you good health
