Suggest Treatment For Nerve Pain In The Leg After Taking A Cortisone Shot
I had a shot of cortisone in my knee 2weeks ago . I have been to dr and ER they tell me dr hit a nerve when gave me the shot . All that can be done is rest and stay off my leg to let nerve relax . My question is how long should this last ? Is there anything I can do to help ?
The time taken for nerve repair can vary. There are different types of nerve trauma eg:
(1) compression or blunt injury to a nerve
(2) slight severing or cutting of a nerve
(3) nerve is cut through completely
Where it is cut through completely, restoration does not usually occur, this is NOT likely the case for you. In the other cases, it can take weeks to months for healing to occur, usually at least 4 weeks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
