Suggest Treatment For Muscle Spasms In The Lower Ribs Post Injury

My husband bruised his lower ribs Tuesday (fell off a roof). He s now experiencing dibilitating muscle spasms. I ve tried heating pad and it eased a bit but he hasn t been able to move for several hours. How do I help him relieve the pain so I can get him to the ER?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Symptoms could be due to muscle spasm, fracture/dislocation of rib. I would suggest to go for ER and undergo examination and x ray to assess injury. Following treatment will useful:

Injection of tramadol if pain is severe. Tablet DAN-MRApply warm pad application and diclofenac gel. Wear elastic bandage, it support respiration and movement. Do not lie on affected side. Other specific treatment is depend on clinical assessment, test results.

Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
