Suggest Treatment For Mild COPD And High BP

Thanks. I was just diagnosed with stage 1, very mild COPD. I was looking for info about how long I might be able to stay at that stage. I have no symptoms, hike 9-15 miles weekly, attend Zumba classes and dance class. I am 60, not overweight, stopped smoking 3 years ago, and have good cholesterol and blood pressure. It sounds to me like no one can really give me an answer to this, but that it might be possible to stay stage 1 for a long time.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the first stage COPD requires only lifestyle modifications as deep breathing exercises, healthy diet to boost up the immunity, avoiding pollen exposure and regular physician check-up.

* There are no medications required at present and the best thing is to avoid passive smoking as well.

* Be in regular evaluation for BP with your family physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
