Suggest Treatment For Migraine

Hi,

I am 32 years old, and since 2007 I have got history of severe migraine and in 2011, I started having complete body right side severe pain, sensory and motor loss in the right hand, especially the last 3 fingers of my hand. Please suggest some good medicines, I visited a doc who gave me a 5-day course of Niscobal injections and Acemiz MR, previously also I was put on various other medicines but the pain tends to come back after a few days of stopping the meds, please suggest what can I do. Thank you.

I read your question and I understand your concern.

First of all considering your right side symptoms, if it hasn't been done already, I would consider head and neck MRI imaging to investigate for brain and cervical spine issues at the origin of the headaches.

Medicine like Acemiz treat only the pain they don't do much to prevent it, so it is only natural it will return. If it is indeed migraine headache (usually unilateral, pulsating, nausea, vomiting, increased sensitivity to light and sounds, lasting 4-72 hours) then regular preventive treatment is available, several options like propranolol, amitriptiline, valproic acid, topiramate, flunnarizine are recommended, they are all prescription drugs, so you should contact your doctor.

If the pain has different characteristics, more info is needed to determine its type and treat accordingly.

I hope to have been of help.
