Suggest Treatment For Metallic Taste In The Mouth And A Lump On The Throat

Hi, I had severe toothache 6 weeks ago ,went to the dentist and had an old filling replaced, since then i have had a metallic taste in my mouth and what feels like a lump at the back of my throat. I also came off citalopram at the same time. I am now suffering from terrible hot flashes and lack of sleep. I dont know whether all these things are related or not. I am 55 years old. should I see a doctor or go back to the dentist. I also suffer from an ulcer from time to time.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Citalopram is an antidepressant and the symptoms that you are experiencing seems to be due to Antidepressant Withdrawal Syndrome and you should consult your treating physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can take symptomatic treatment like Doing warm saline gargles for feeling lump in throat, chew sugar free chewing gum that is flavoured and do flavoured mouthwash gargles to mask bad taste in mouth..
Anti-anxiety medicine can be given to you for reducing other symptoms of insomnia and hot flashes..
Ulcer that occurs seems to be recurring apthous ulcers and for it you can take multivitamin tablet and do warm saline gargles..
Avoid spicy food..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
