Suggest Treatment For Mental Illness

I have a sister with severe mental illness issues. She has threatened to kill herself on many occasions. She has attempted numerous times. Here lately it's getting worse.. She has threatened to call the police on herself and having a fake gun and making them shoot and kill her. She isn't aware of what's right and wrong right now. Also at this time she has 4 minor children. 1 incarcerated and 3 with family members. She needs help what can I do to have her get a mental evaluation.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear user of HealthcareMagic.com!

Because of her suicidal status, if I was your family doctor:
- I would refer IMMEDIATELY to a psychiatrist!
- Make sure there is someone with your sister at all times.
- Be sure she continues to follow up with psychiatric counseling and medication management.

Take care!

Dr. Elton
