Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have felt a slight lump on my cheek bone that did hurt after I got hit in the face. I went to the doctor hoping to get an x-ray but the doctor felt as if that was not needed (this was a PCP urgent care doctor). Although the pain has subsided, if I rub my finger around the area where I feel the lump it then starts feeling weird. I do not get this feeling when I rub around the other cheek. My question is, what kind of specialist can I insist on getting a referral to figure out why I am having this pain and can I strongly encourage my PCP to write a script for an x-ray? This all happened 2 Thursdays ago and today is the 16th of August 2015. Thank you!
the lump seem to be related to the injury. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application. If the symptoms continue, you should see your general doctor for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
