my daughter was thrown from a horse on wednesday. She was wearing a helmet however it cracked...she had a ct scan at the ED and it showed to be normal. The lump on her head is about the size of a small clementine and feels mushy. Is that normal? her diagnosis was concussion

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
I hope she is fine now and out of danger. The CT scan being normal must have really relaxed you.
The mushy lump on her head is a hematoma.
This usually resolves well with time without any complications.
You can request the Doctor to aspirate and put a pressure bandage to avoid re-accumulation.
