Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I punched a wall really hard a couple of months ago because I was really mad about something and my ring finger and pinky finger took the brunt of the impact. Now, I realized that when I spread my hand open, there is a pretty big numb behind the knuckle of my pinky finger. I don t know what this is or whether or not it s permanent, should I go to the doctor because of this?
The trauma may have damaged the soft tissues such as ligaments and tendons in the area as well as the bones.
It is best that you have a physical exam to better determine the function of the fingers that were affected and which structures may have been hurt. Also, an x-ray may be ordered if there comes a need after the physical exam
According to the results of these, the doctor will decide on the most possible cause and understand which is the outcome.
I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. Let me know if I may assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
