Suggest Treatment For Lower Abdominal Soreness After Child Birth
I had twins 3 months ago and still notice lower abdominal soreness. I wouldn't call it pain but rather soreness that you would get from doing a lot of crunches or sit-ups, only problem is I haven't done that anytime lately. I did do some crunches about 6 weeks ago and afterwards is when I started noticing the soreness but it hasn't gone away. I am 32 years old, 5'7", was 120 lbs. pre-pregnancy and 155 lbs. at the end of my pregnancy. The last time I weighed myself was about 6 weeks ago and I was down to 130 lbs.
Even though your body is healed enough to function at your regular activities, the stretching of your abdominal muscles, especially after a twin pregnancy, can take a very long time to recover.
If you are experiencing muscle soreness, especially after you exercise, it means you still have some strain present left from your pregnancy. Taking an anti-inflammatory pain reliever like ibuprofen, and regular stretching of your abdominal muscles (by arching your back) can help you get more flexible and help relieve soreness.
So there is no need to worry, your body just needs more recovery after a twin pregnancy.
I hope I was able to adequately answer your question today and that my advice was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
