Suggest Treatment For Low RBC And HTC?

A friend has been diagnosed with Possible Leukemia. He has had blood marrow test, several blood test and hemotologist could not pinpoint exactly what kind he had. Referred him to M.D. Anderson in Houston, but seems now they don t think he should come there. This has been going on for six weeks and symptoms getting worse. During this six weeks he has received four units of blood. He has low RBC, HGB, HCT MCHC AND PLT. No real diagnosis and no treatment.

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. He has received four units of blood to treat low RBC count or low hematocrit.
2. Bone marrow biopsy will help in identifying the cause of pancytopenia, which he presently has.
3. Bone marrow biopsy with flow cytometry will confirm the possible leukemia. If more details are available, I can help you more.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
