General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
It is important to consult with a pediatrician for appropriate treatment of your child's symptoms. Loose motions and cough can be caused by a variety of factors, including viral or bacterial infections. Azithromycin drops should only be given under the guidance of a healthcare provider and after a proper diagnosis of the underlying cause.
In the meantime, you can help relieve your child's congestion by using a bulb syringe to gently suction out mucus from her nose, using a cool mist humidifier, and elevating her head while sleeping. Offer small, frequent feedings to prevent dehydration, and continue to monitor her symptoms closely.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
