Hi, I am 24 and have just finished my final year exam. Suddenly realised this big lump of meat (ligual hemangioma) under my tongue. I am not sure if it's the result of me wearing gum shield for rugby or just one of them unfortunate disease I have. I would like to know how I can get rid of it. Please help!
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Hemangioma is a disorder of blood vessels causing formation of benign tumor.. As you wear gum shield for rugby there is a possibility that continuous trauma has led to formation of a soft tissues overgrowth known as a Fibroma and chances of hemangioma are less probable but cannot be denied.. You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation will help in diagnosis.. In case if it is Hemangioma sclerosing agents can help in its regression.. If stii it persist surgical removal is advisable.. In case of Fibroma surgical removal has to be done..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
