Suggest Treatment For Knot On Jaw After Wisdom Tooth Extraction

I got an impacted wisdom tooth extracted Friday afternoon. I was given amox 500mg & percocet 10mg. Today I woke up with a huge hard knot on the side of my jaw. When I apply pressure I can taste pus inside my mouth and when I spit its a yellowish red color. Is this the infection I'm spitting out? Should I try to get more out or leave it alone. It's still pretty painful.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
Post-surgical swelling is a common problem encountered after the removal of wisdom teeth. Impacted wisdom tooth extraction normally require enough bone cutting.
The amount of swelling is proportional to the amount of surgery required in removal of tooth. In most cases, it fully resolves by day 7 after the procedure.
You can do following remedies-
1.You can do betadine 2% gargles 3-4 times a day.
2.Do cold compresses over swelling.
3.Maintain oral hygiene
You should be evaluated by your dentist.
Hoping your query is solved
