I developed a sunburn like blotchy skin rash started two days ago. It appeared first on my trunk, it disappears with cortisone and benedryl, but reappears and seems to get worse every episode. It has spread to my arms, buttocks, legs, back and now even forehead. Goes away for several hours and then randomly reappears. Warm to touch, very itchy...

As I understand it could be because of some allergy. Antihistaminics like cetrizine and loratidine can be taken to relieve it. Avoid use of steroid as far as possible or take only under guidence of clinician. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist for correct diagnosis and treatment.
