Suggest Treatment For Itching And Burning Rash On Face

Hi. I am a 45 yr old female who has had a face rash around my mouth for over 2-3 weeks. The Dermatoligist gave me Minocycline 100mg twice daily and eventually Elidel cream. I was told to take the antibiotic either untill it heals or 3 months. It looked really good on Sunday so I only took one of those pills. I stopped using the Elidel on Sunday also. She thought I have perioral dermatis. On monday i spiked a fever of 102 and heart rate was running like 115 when all I was doing was lying on couch watching Food Network. My husband took me to ER since I am a heart patient(VSD repair at age 4). They gave my 2 Tylnol equaling 650mg and a motrin 400mg. Gave me fluids, tested blood, urine and xray. Still waiting on a blood bacteria test. Rest of the tests came back Negative. Stayed home yesterday. Had a fever 101. Had to take child to school today. came back have a fever 100.4 Took Motrin. Restarted the Minocycline last night. face rash is getting worse again- itching, burning. Dermatologist said that she wouldn t skin test/scrape it for 2 weeks. This can be done next week. I have had lightheadeness / head feeling heavey since last night, had a couple of what the hell I do that moments last night. Been drinking lots of water and been eating (craving garlic).

Hi ,

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com
I have read your query in detail and can well understand your concern.
In the absence of a picture, it is very difficult to comment but from your question it seems like your symptoms could be due to dermatitis which may be precipitated by certain drugs, sunlight, etc.

You can take tab levocetrizine 5mg twice daily.

Apply hydrocortisone cream over the affected areas once daily for 7 days only and then stop.

• Preventive measures:

Apply sunscreen every 3 hours in the day time and avoid stepping out in the sun.
Do not scrub this area and use cetaphil cleansing lotion for facewash for next 1 week

Hope this helps.

You can revert back after 1 week or if you have any further query.
