Suggest Treatment For Irregular Menstruation After Removing NuvaRing

I have been on the nuva ring for about 5 yrs and I got off of it in apr 2014 trying to conceive and have been unsuccessful also my periods have been very irregular ..this last period on last week was by far the heaviest ive had since apr 2014 .. and being irregular my period \ ovulation app is sure to be inaccurate. Id like to know did the ring make me infertile or should I just wait and worry , Ive been taking prenatals and recently switched to Geritol Complete.. Im 25 and my only child is 7 on July 21 2015. Id like to conceive ..what do I do?

Hi,

Nuvaring is built up with combined hormones and you had regular periods due to the hormones till you were on with the ring. Actually, after withdrawal of hormones. Period tends to be normal (if it was irregular before) and so conception is also possible. If you have irregular periods after you are off the ring, it indicates some other cause for irregularity. You need investigations to find the cause (ovarian or thyroid cause). Please consult a gynecologist.
