Suggest Treatment For Intense Pain In The Abdominal Area

My husband is experiencing intense pain in his intestines, like acid. When he eats something it calms down for awhile but then it comes back. It is not localized on one side, however, right now it is in the lower middle part of his stomach. He has tried pepto bismal, yogurt, tums, crackers and nothing is working for long.
