Suggest Treatment For Intense Pain In Ankle After Injury

i fell back yesterday and hit my ankle on the corner of the wood table so hard I cried. Pain was intense and I could not put my ankle down for about 15 minutes. My toes move but where I hit the table is very painful and swollen I don't think it's broken but not sure what to do

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear user!
Welcome to HCM, I appreciate you are sharing your concerns with us!

In this case I would recommend you a simple x-ray and a consult with your primary doctors or orthopedist to rule out any possible damage of your ankle articulation. Pain and edema in your ankle suggest an inflammation and versament (liquid) in the articulation

Basing on the findings your doctor will give you the proper medication and advises you should follow.

If you can't go to ER, at least do the following:

- Keep ice on your ankle to reduce the edema
- Ibuprofen and vitamin C to remove the pain, inflammation and help heal it faster.

I Wish you a fast relief!
Best regards!
DR ERIOL.
