Suggest Treatment For Insomnia And Anxiety

after years of insomnia and anxiety I ve tried everything I currently take one Clonazepam in am for anxiety and a pot cookie to sleep, both work better than any Rx used in past. The only problem is that of late I some times wake with high anxiety and hyper ventalating . It may be because Meds. are pretty much out of system by then. Suggestions? Alternatives? Other than that AM problem it still works better than past alternatives

Hello,

You are suffering from insomnia and anxiety. Insomnia relates to and possibly affects anxiety disorders. For example, difficulty in falling or staying asleep can be due to PTSD, acute stress disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), major depressive disorder, etc.

you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP to rule out any chronic illness that may be triggering your symptoms like GI disorders, neurological disorders, thyroid problems, lung or heart ailment. Get treated obstructive sleep apnea, periodic limb movements, narcolepsy, or RBD, or any other ailment or disease that is suspected.

Get the required blood tests and investigations done so that chronic illness can be treated. Get connected to a Counselor/ physical therapist to help you come out of PTSD, any major /minor depression that is causing you anxiety. You may need certain exercises, CBC, massage therapy, etc. The therapies help to practice good sleep, maintain hygiene, stimulus control, sleep restriction (during daytime), and relaxation therapy.

Stay away from addictions if any, alcohol, drugs, smoking, etc. Get clinically evaluated by a GP, you will be treated with pharmacotherapy and non-pharmacotherapy (particularly CBT). It is effective. Insomnia can also result due to apnea spells or excessive snoring as seen in obstructive apnea. Maintain healthy weight, avoid snoring or avoid sleeping near snoring people.

Do regular exercises. meet healthy people, make new friends, eat home made nutritious food. Manage stress both physical and emotional and stay away from any factor that makes you anxious.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
