At a clinic , last night, I was given an antibiotic for a painful spider bite that had caused a puss pocket. I believe I must have been bitten Sunday night. Tuesday morning I awoke with mild pain in the joint of my right big toe. This morning the pain is more pronounced. Should I try to see a doctor for this or should the antibiotic be sufficient?
Hi. As per your case history of insect bite my advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and levocetrizine for itching. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
