Suggest Treatment For Injury On Ankles

Hey, I few days ago I went in and got an X-Ray because I was unsure if I had fractured my left ankle. They said that they couldn't tell if it was fractured because of all the swelling. She told me not to put any weight on it for 7 days and then come back for another X-Ray. Two days later and I can walk without it hurting I have to keep it straight because I can't bend my ankle up or down. I'm trying not to aggravate the injury any more but I'm worried about basketball starting up in a few days. Is this just a ligament injury or could it be more? Thanks!

Hello,
Here it is apparent from your history that you might have at least sprained your ankle.
See if there is any crack in the bone, it causes intense pain on movement and the part gets swollen too.
As per you said if it is not possible to determine the fracture from xray I think you should go for MRI in order to confirm the findings.
Of course you need to give ankles some rest. No movements nothing. Strict no weight bearing.
Many ligamentous fibres must have torn which is sprain and mind it, it is too painful.
To alleviate the pain and inflammation, some good painkillers and anti inflammatory drug would surely help.
It will take a bit long time to heal completely.
As far as your basketball games is concerned, if this doesn't turn out to be fracture you will be playing the game with in couplet of weeks.
But not if the contrary is revealed.
Hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
