Suggest Treatment For Infection On The Middle Toe

I have an infected middle toe. The nail was protruding at an angle and was large in size. I clipped it down and removed the fungus under neath, however on the underneath of the toe it has swollen. I am soaking it in warm water and salt. What else can I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to the HealthcareMagic!

As per your symptoms, it seems to be a tinea pedis infection.

Topical anti-fungal needs to be given for 2-6 week.

Topical Imidazole anti-fungal can be prescribed for two weeks.

If infection still persists, then oral Fluconazole also can also be prescribed.
Apply anti-fungal in interdigital area and sole.

Keep affected area dry.

Hope this solves your concern.

Consult dermatologist for further examination and get the above prescription.
