Suggest Treatment For Infection Near Anus In Infant

Hi Doctor, My daughter is 7 months old. she has some infection just below her anal. Doc prescribed her Augmentin duo syrup (2.5ml twice daily for 5 days), atarax drops (8 drops thrice daily for 5 days), ibuprofen (3 days) and Fucidin cream (twice daily for 5 days). Today is the fifth day. I have given my daughter Augmentin duo syrup (2.5ml twice daily for 5 days) and Fucidin cream (twice daily for 5 days). Discontinued Atarax drops after 3rd dose due to some Dizziness / Nausea. However, again started as advice my doctor from 13th June evening. Never given Brufen as there is no fever. Problem is that the infected area still remain same, no improvement as such. Doctor again asked to continue the same medicine except Brufen till 17th June 2015. Please suggest.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

I suggest you to contact with a proctologist, specialist of anal region for diagnose differentiation between an perianal abscess and hemorrhoid nodus. In case of abscess the formation will have fluctuation. Because of antibiotic treatment the infection is not accompanied by fever. This treatment is not sufficient as it s needed surgical treatment with incision and drainage. In case of hemorrhoids is needed just topical cream.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Julinda Maksuti, General Surgeon
