Suggest Treatment For Infection In Ear Causes Bad Smell

For the last 6 months I have had wetness in both my ear canals and it smells very sour. On and off I will also have build up of a crusty material. Now for the last week my ear canals are itching so much, especially at night while lying on my side, that it wakes me up. Any suggestions? The local pharmacist told me to put a bit of cortizone, but that only made it worse.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns. ..

As per your complain the symptoms of discharge and sour smell from ears along with itching can be due to Chronic Ear infection or chronic Otitis Media leading to the following symptoms..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get an Otoscopic examination done..
If infection is ruled out he can advise you antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Aleve or Motrin, decongestant Oral as well as Nasal like Phenylephrine, antibiotic ear drops like Gentamycin and steroids ear drops..
Also preventing excessive water exposure like swimming and overexposure to very loud sounds should be prevented..
