Suggest Treatment For Impetigo

I recently got out of jail and was in for a total of 14 months. Because I transferred from one place to another and had to deal with much ignorance, I have ad impetigo for 16 months now. I was treated with oral antibiotics and have gone through so many tubes of ointment I am afraid antibiotics will not work on me for anything in the future. It definitely is not the answer for me now. What do you suggest? Would I.V. antibiotics make a difference?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Impetigo not responding to oral antibiotic suggests that the infectious agent is resistant to the antibiotic taken. I suggest you to get pus culture and sensitivity test to select the antibiotic most sensitive against the infectious agent.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
