Suggest Treatment For Immobility And Lack Of Appetite
My 89 year old mother has been ailing for 6 months. She has diverticulitus and was given anitbotics for a dental cleaning which she has a reaction to . Ended up in the ER as blood pressure dropped and she fell down with convulsions. Diarrea followed. Since this has happened her mobility and appetite has gone down hill and she is now in care without improvment
Hi, Thanks for asking. Sorry to know about her present condition. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. She is possibly depressed due to turn out of events and this has caused her to loose appetite. 2. Need to improve her strength with high energy glucose drinks. Initially liquid followed by solid food is necessary. 3. Mild assisted mobility initially, will improve appetite. Family support and interaction is very important. 4. Cognition in the elderly reduces after hospitalization or any stressful period. She will require extra care for next one month from family. Caretaker should always be around to help her in feeding, mobility and helping her in basic activities. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
