Suggest Treatment For Hip Osteoarthritis

I have severe osteoarthritis in both hip joints and I had went to an orthopedic doctor about one year ago or a little bit longer and I will be 50 next month and she stated that she doesn t like to do them at an young age. Maybe around 60 I can barely walk now, So will it progressively get worse over time and I cant really do a whole lot now I was a correctional officer and I had limitations and lost my job and like I am now I cant work. I hurt too bad and use a cane to walk and cant really get around now.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

Till time take analgesic and cartilage protecting medication like glucosamine sulphate.
For hip arthritis joint flexion, extension and rotation exercises will help.
Physiotherapist will help you better to learn more exercises in proper protocol.
If required intra-articular injection can be given.

Pain on movement can be associated with arthritis. Lack of movement will aggravate pain so you need to do range of motion exercises for hip and knee. Pain on hip movement will reduce after joint replacement.

Diet rich in calcium and protein will help.
With latest ceramic and zirconia implant you can do joint replacement at early age also.
You can consult your joint surgeon again.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
