General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It can be just a viral infection which are very common at this age. The blood work will not show anything in this case. If it was a bacterial infection the white blood cells should be elevated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
