Suggest Treatment For High Fever And Hip Pain In A Child

Hi, my 8 year old son had 102-103 fever since last 3 days. We gave him meftal p and crocin ds alternately when fever was high assuming that it s a viral infection (as many kids had it). Now the fever has subsided but he has extremely severe pain in his hips since yesterday night and can t walk at all. We have to carry him for everything. I had read that this may happen post viral infection. Can you please recommend what can be done? We gave him coconut water and juices thinking that he maybe dehydrated. Gave him 0.5 combiflam now when he woke up with unbeatable pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should seek medical attention soon.
This inability to walk after a viral infection is not a good sign. I want also to know if he is vaccinated because these symptoms may possibly be poliomyelitis.
Please send him to hospital for evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
