Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husbands blood sugar is 339. He s on steroids, and was just started this week on methotrexate and Humira. He usually runs right around 100-130 BG, he s on Glimepride and Metformin. The steroids might make the blood glucose jump, right? He does take another Metformin this evening. Should we call his MD? Thanks!

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hi,
Please note that steroids increase blood sugar level. Steroids are necessary evils, have to be prescribed in some cases. Now the dosage of antidiabetics has to be adjusted, so his MD should be called.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
