Suggest Treatment For Hiatal Hernia And Acid Re Flux

I have a hiatal hernia and acid re flux. I'm a singer so this isn't good for my vocal cords. I have to have my esophagus dilated about every two years because I have trouble swallowing. I expressed interest in possibly having the surgery to fix the hernia, but my GI doctor didn't think it was a good idea. She said sometimes surgery doesn't work and might compound the problem. What do you think?

Hello
As you doctor advised against surgery , so I also advise ,please don't opt for surgery.
You are having Hiatus hernia and acid reflux , so these measures may be useful for you.
Try raising the head of your bed about 4 inches with blocks. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for 2-3 hours before you lie down. To help control stomach acid ( hiatus hernia and acid reflux) one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolates or spicy or grasy foods .
Also avoid pizza ,burger .
Also take some antacid ( if it contains oxetacaine ,better ) ,but in your case , you are having severe symptoms ,so you may need drugs like proton pump inhibitors like pantoprazole -d according to your need ,ONE or TWO in day ( however, some advise one because this is normal dose ).
Sometimes over eating may causes such symptoms , so please avoid .
Tension and anxiety are other reasons of such acid reflux ,so be careful.
Hope this will help you .
