Suggest Treatment For Heartburn

Hello doctor,

Today I'm concerned because I have controlled previous heartburn events by controling what I ate. Yesterday, I ate some of those foods I normally avoid and now I can't eat anything without pain and fatigue. Could this be more serious than I thought?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms you seems to be suffering from GASTRO-ESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE commonly known as Acid Reflux and this is the cause of heartburn in your case too..

Pain on eating anything is due to chemical burning or injury to foodpipe or esophagus and when food passess tha area of injury there is burning and pain..

You should consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and even if required he/she can advise you to get Endoscopy done..
For acid reflux he can advise if to take Proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole.
Antacid like Milk of Magnesia can also be advised..
Eat more of Probiotics like Yoghurt..
Drink plenty of water as it helps in dilution of acid..
Avoid spicy and acidic foods and heavy and large meals..
Take small and light meals..
Eat atleast 2 hours before meals..
Take short walk after meals..
Sleep with head slightly raised as compared to legs.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
