Suggest Treatment For Heart Palpitations And Depression

Lost my husband of 31 years 6 months ago. He was the love of my life...my whole world. I can t commit suicide as It would devistate my children and grandchildren, but all I think about is being with him. I pray every night that if it s God s will to please let me die. I cry all the time to the point that my voice has changed . I stay in my house for days at a time not wanting to see or talk to anyone. How long will these feelings last....I just don t want to live my entire life with my heart feeling like it has been shatterd.

Hello,

I am sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one can make you feel like life has come to its end and it may become difficult to imagine life without him. However, what has happened cannot be changed and you have to live your life for yourself, your children and grandchildren. They would love to see you smile and living happily with them. As you have recently lost your husband, you might feel severely depressed, but I assure you that time can heal every wound and loss will not feel this deep as you will move ahead in your life.

Try to engage yourself in some activity that you love to do like cooking, reading, writing, gardening, knitting. You can develop a new skill by joining a class for it. Even if it feels difficult to go out and meet friends and relatives, push yourself and make an effort to do so. Plan lunch/dinners with friends or go for a movie. Eat healthy and do regular exercise. Eventually, you will find yourself busy throughout day with other activities and goals and will be able to cherish your husband's memories without pain.

If you feel that you cannot deal with the stress yourself and need some help, you can consult a psychiatrist for counselling sessions. He/she can prescribe you some medicines to deal with this phase easily. In addition, he/she might suggest you some support group that you can join and find people similar to you to share your and their pain. You can make new friends there, too.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Please take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
