Suggest Treatment For Headache Despite Taking Advil

My head hurts badly for two days now even after taking Advil round the clock. My head hurts so bad the back of my eyes hurt. I have lupus and I noticed I m very swollen and my heart is beating rapidly in my chest, irregular, a little trouble breathing I also have a pain On my lower right side up under my rib cage wrapping around towards my back side.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You should not be taking ANY ANALGESIC (even OTC medications) "round the clock" because you are going to precipitate something called MEDICATION OVERUSE HEADACHE which means that headaches you get may actually be as a result of TOO MUCH MEDICATION as opposed to just being headaches for unknown reasons. You probably need something specific for the headaches such as a TRIPTAN if what you have is a migraine.... Seek out a HEADACHE SPECIALIST.....and you need to give up the "round the clock" medications....those will send you deeper into the woods.
