Hi,

Antiepileptic drug induced Psychotic disorder is the condition in which the patients who are on anti epileptic therapy develops mental disturbances following exposure to Anti-epileptic drugs. One of the studies regarding this condition shows that Levetiracetam which is commonly prescribing anti- epileptic drug among the seizure patients can cause mental disturbances. This is more common in females with the temporal lobe involvement.

Carbamazepine is one of the commonly prescribing antiepileptics with no proven theory about causing psychotic disorder. Hallucinations feeling the things that are not really there. In Patients with Temporal lobe epilepsy, hallucinations are more common. Visit the Neuropsychiatrist for detailed evaluation and further management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
