Suggest Treatment For Haemolacria

I am Moumita Halder from Kolkata, India. My brother has Haemolacria. We have consulted many doctors. We have done lots of blood tests. We even have done blood cancer test, Nasal endoscopy, CT scan. No abnormality found in my brother s blood, eyes, nose, skin and brain. Dr. Arjun Dasgupta consulted this case with foreign doctors also. He says there is no particular medicine to cure this disease. Can you please tell us where will the treatment of Hawemolacria be done? Please. My brother is 17 years old.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

Heamolacria is very rare condition in which patient produce tears which are formed from blood. No need definite cause is identified.

Treatment suggested is:
1. Avoid stress and anxiety. Start anxiolytic drugs like Propranolol or Flunarizine combination.
2. Punctual plugs in lacrimal sac. This is the only useful way to stop bleeding in tears.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
