Suggest Treatment For Gingivitis In An Infant

Hi Doctor, My 14 month old boy had fever for 1-2 days almost 2 wks ago then 2 afts on lip and after that smelling from mouth. He woke up crying in bed at night as he bumped with pacifier against bed. He was bleeding and we noticed enormous swelling in mouth, could not see his front teeth. We got creme and now drops to sooth swelling. He took ibupfrofen for some days but now he can eat and he only takes the drops. Its gingivitis but not going away. Is zovirax liquid the next option to get rid of the virus which caused this? Or is it somthing else? Thank you

hello
thank you for asking the question.
your child is suffering from gingivitis. it is occur commonly due to bacterial infection. bacteria normally present in mouth, but due to low immunity it grows in enormous amount and produce infection.
Treatment with antibiotics help in gingivitis. Ibuprofen only relieves pain.
Regarding zovirax, it is antiviral against herpes simplex virus. if you are suffering from herpes simplex and doctor had confirmed it then after consulting a doctor you can start a zovirax(acyclovir)
hope this will helpful to you.
