General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As he is bedridden due to spinal problems, this explains why he gets frequent UTIs.

I need to know if he has been circumcised and if he has an enlarged prostate which both can also contribute to the frequent UTIs.

So, the best thing is to discuss with his urologist for the best treatment strategy for him. All antibiotics should be given by prescription cannot get over the counter.

We prescribe antibiotics based on antibiogram (should run urine culture and sensitivity test for that). For the moment, give cranberry tea or supplement containing cranberry, uva ursi, etc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
