Suggest Treatment For Foot Sprain

I think i sprained my right foot yesterday while playing basketball, my foot turn inwards, i heard a pop and it hurts a little bit and i was able to walk home. While sleeping that night, i felt that my foot is swelling a little bit but not severe and doesnt have any visible bruises. Today i can walk a bit normal and theres no pain, i can only feel pain when i move my foot on a certain angle. Also, as i have mentioned, it is swollen a little bit, i feel numbness on a portion of my right toe. Is it normal? What do you think doc. For me, my foot is kinda getting better since yesterday. I havent seen a doctor since yesterday, should i?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.

There is possibility of soft tissue injury.

If you see any signs of infection like raised local temperature, pus collection, increase in pain then you should consult your doctor.

Till time take rest for few days, keep foot clean.
If you suspect any infection then it is better to give antibiotic cover.

If there is no improvement then you may need supportive splint to cover injured part.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
