A thorough neuromuscular assessment is advised.
Since it is very difficult for most of the time to understand the biomechanics of the jaw and also the muscular strength in the facial region. By a thorough neuromuscular assessment it is possible to identify the possible cause and treat accordingly.
As your dentist mentioned , that the mouth opening is no to the optimum than I will go along with your dentist than the physician, as dentist are the one who observes the mouth more than anyone else.
Also, for the time being you need to wait and see if any symptoms arise. as without any symptoms the physician can not do much.
I will recommend to perform regular facial muscles exercises as to improve the muscles flexibility and also the Strengthening. You can consult a physical therapist to understand the exercises needed to be performed.
