Suggest Treatment For Fever And Cough In A Child

My baby is 1.5 yrs old. she is having cough for the last 2 days. Earlier her doctor had prescribed levocetrizine and amoxyllin for a similar condition. I have started the same medications this time as well. I cannot visit my doc as we are out of town. Today, even though her coughing has reduced, she has fever.I have given her babygesic syrup n now the fever has subsided. However, what do you suggest that I do further?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child has cough and fever which is mainly because of lower respiratory tract infection known as wheeze associated lower respiratory tract infections. It could be due to sore throat and viral infection as well. Need not to worry about it. Symptoms will normally takes 3 days for viral fever to go. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. If cough is exaggerating go for chest X-ray, blood and sputum test of child. If it is bacterial infection start with proper course of antibiotics. Till then give crocin 4 hrly. Acetaminophen is also effective and you can give that as well. Give child proper rest without any discomfort. Give water after every few mins. Maintain hygiene of child. Give child steam inhalation along with vaporizers. Give hot milk along with turmeric added in it as it will booster immunity of child.
