Suggest Treatment For Ear Aches And Sore Throat After Root Canal Treatment

I recently had a root canal, and two crowns put in. I had a lot of pain after each one, and now after the second crown, I am experiencing an ear ache, and a sore throat. Is this fairly normal, or does this indicate an infection? I did have an x-ray done on one of the crowns that was causing pain, and my Dentist said there was not an infection. But with the ear ache and sore throat pain, I am concerned that something is wrong.

Thank you,
Kim

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain pain after root canal treatment can occur if there is persistent underlying infection causing pain and the pain can radiate to ear.

But in case you do not have any tooth ache related to the root canal treated and crowned teeth and the x ray also does not reveal any signs of abnormality the sore throat and earache can be due to throat infection.

In case if you have any doubt about having your symptoms connected to the dental problem you can take a second opinion from an ENDODONTIST who is a specialist in root canals and can suggest you better after clinical examination and x ray.

You can try warm saline gargles, throat lozenges , antibiotics and Ibuprofen to relieve sore throat and earache and if it is due to throat infection you will get relieved.

Hope your query is solved..
