Suggest Treatment For E Coli Infection

Helo . my son is suffering with Ecoli frm past 3 months. It s reducing n again it s cming bk. Now the count is more than one lakh per ml. Our ped prescribed us to get my child admitted. And get Iv fluids. He is just 8mnths old. Plz suggest us Wt to b done

thanks for your question. i assume that you are talking about e coli infection of urinary tract. well for 8 month old child infection episodes for more than 3 months is significant plus current colony count of more than 100000 suggests some amount of resistance to previous treatment . so mandates treatment with sensitive antibiotic and it would be good if child can get admitted for iv antibiotic treatment.
iv fluids will help if child is dehyhrated or has kidney function and electrolytes going to abnormal levels. also kindly get ultrasound for kidney ureter and bladder . its very important to find out cause for recurrent uti and do the needful accordingly.
