Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a dull ache/pain periodically in my rectum (no bleeding...no fissures....no hemmorhoids) It is a discomfort but I am noticing an increase in frequency. My paternal uncle passed with bowel cancer when he was 64. I had a colonoscopy in my 50 s...I am 70 now. My stool has changed in this past year or so.....small balls not a full moist stool. I attribute this to my diet both in lesser amount I eat now and a decrease in vegetables and probably less fluid although I do drin at least a litre a day (doffee, water, soda).I do not drink alcohol (by choice). Should I be concerned?
It is important for you to have a colonoscopy since you have not had you in the past 10 years. Colon cancer is largely preventable if you get a colonoscopy every 10 years. Changing your diet and adding more fiber and water would also be very helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Kathy Robinson, General & Family Physician
