Suggest Treatment For Dry Mouth While Having Type 2 Diabetes
Hi I have had half of my pancreas removed ... was diagonoised with type 2 diabetes which I questioned , then was told after I had taken meds for a month that I did not have diabetes from a specialist so was told to stop the medication which I had already did as it was making me quite sickly. Now I have a really dry mouth and can not get rid of the dryness in my mouth ... no matter how much I drink, I get quite tired after eating and have to control my intake of food or end up falling asleep. Not peeing excessively and my bloods appear normal but it is the thirst that I can not quench which is starting to irritate me
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain dry mouth is a common side effect of Type II diabetes and you should consult a Diabetologist and get evaluated and he can do a blood sugar investigation done both fasting and post meal.. It is needed because when the blood sugar levels rise you tend to have dry mouth and increased urge to drink water..
In case if the blood sugar levels are high you need to take Oral Hypoglycemic Medicines that will help in bringing blood sugar levels to normal..
As of now you can suck tart candies and chew sugar free chewing gums to stimulate saliva flow and relieve dry mouth.. You can also gargle with specialized mouthwash formulated for dry mouth patients like Biotene to relieve dry mouth.. Artificial saliva drops can be instilled in mouth for relieve.. Drink plenty of water.. Maintain a good oral hygiene..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
