Suggest Treatment For Dry, Itchy Bleeding Cracks On Skin After Touching Bleach

Over a year ago, I immersed my hand in a bleach solution (soaking clothes). To this day, the affected area is dry, itchy, cracks, and bleeds when I scratch it. I know the bleach caused it. any effective over-the-counter treatments for this? Will eczema cream help?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the underlying cause of concern is related to damage to skin and subcutaneous tissue via bleach which must be of high concentration. My guidelines in this regard:
- Keep the part clean with antiseptic liquid or soap
- Local application of aloe vera gel and turmeric paste on alternate basis for faster resolution
- Balanced nutritious diet to combat the immunity
- Supportive multivitamins, minerals, anti oxidant medications
- Control of blood sugar
- Avoid further exposure to similar or other chemical irritants
- Do not expose to bright sunlight or for prolong period of time in sunbath pleasure
- Avoid use of commercial bleach if applicable

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
