Hi, I get orthostatic hypotension sometimes when standing up etc, but today I had an episode that was unusual and maybe of concern. I was in a library reading, and got a normal kind of brief lightheaded spell moving in my seat, which I didn t really think very much about, but then about half an hour I remembered I wanted to get a book out that was on the floor above me, so I got up and ran up the stairs, and when I got to the shelves I got a strange sort of weak dizzy feeling that was coming on slower than the normal head-rush, and got this fast pounding heartbeat noise in my ears and my vision got very blurred and took about just under a minute to clear up again. It was a different sort of sensation than I would normally get that didn t come on as instantaneously as the normal head rush feeling, and that lasted quite a bit longer. I was afraid I would fall, so I sat on one of the footstools that they have to reach the high shelves and looked at the books nearby for a few minutes, and when I got up I got another bad enough brief lightheaded dizzy spell (the kind that I m used to). I was mostly worried because of the middle episode with the heartbeat in my ears etc, because it was a different sort of sensation and had never happened before. When I got home my mother and sister in law said that the middle incident sounded like a spell of high blood pressure, which would even more worrying if it s going between two very different extremes. Would you have any idea what this was and why I would be getting it? I m 20 y/o and male, 5ft 10inch and 74kg.
