Suggest Treatment For Dizziness And Chest Pain

When I am at home during the day my resting pulse is about 62 Beats per minute, and my blood pressure is about 116/74. I ride the Elliptical about twice per week. In the evening at the health club I get on the elliptical trainer and my resting pulse is about 125. As I ride the elliptical my heart rate stays at about 125. This has been happening for about 5 weeks. Since this has been happening I cannot get a vigorous workout without feeling dizzy and light headed to the point that I feel like I am going to pass out. I have to stop for about a minute, and allow this dizziness, and lightheadedness to subside. I have not felt any chest pain at all. I live in Albuquerque , New Mexico, and the allergies are very bad right now. Maybe I have Asthma?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You should undergo stress echocardiography to rule out the effect of physical exertion on cardiac function. It is the only available option in your case. As it is the basal rate, you may also undergo spirometry to get a diagnosis or exclude asthma.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
